Game Design

The basics: For this game I have attempted to replicate the game Pong from the early 70s as part of the Gaming Fundamentals unit I am studying. I have used a physics based approach to have a ball object bounce around the screen at a consistent set rate. I have added a physics based input system for the player paddles at either side, but tightened the drag so that there can be fast change of directions when desired. I added a scoring system as well as end game conditions when a score reaches 10. I also set up areas to reset the ball position if it goes out of bounds somehow.

The additions: For additional features I have added an "Anarchy Mode". This mode randomises the direction of the angles the ball bounces off the player paddles, as well as randomising the angles when bouncing off the walls. I also added random scripted events at random intervals (between 15-25 seconds) to try to put the player off their game. I've added more art to this version to make it fit more with the theme.

I hope you enjoy the game!
